Frequently asked questions
How much does counselling cost?
£50 per 50-minute session.
Do you offer an initial consultation?
Yes — a free 15-minute initial consultation, with no obligation to book a counselling session afterwards.
Where are sessions held?
Face-to-face sessions take place at a private practice location in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire — the exact address is shared once a session is booked. Online sessions take place from a private space of your choosing.
How does online counselling work?
Online sessions are held via Microsoft Teams. A secure meeting link is emailed to you before your appointment. You'll need a reliable internet connection and a private space to talk.
How do I pay?
By invoice, with a secure bank payment (Pay Now link or QR code) or bank transfer. Bank payment is preferred, though cash is accepted if needed.
When do I need to pay?
Payment is due on the day of your session, following your appointment.
What happens if I need to cancel?
I ask for at least 48 hours' notice. A cancellation with less than 48 hours' notice is charged at 50% of the session fee (£25). A missed session with no notice is charged at the full fee (£50).
How many sessions will I need?
There isn't a fixed number. Some clients find it helpful to begin with an initial six sessions and then review together how things are going. There's no requirement to commit to a set number of sessions.
What if I don't know what to talk about?
That's completely okay — you don't need to arrive with everything worked out.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes. Sessions are confidential, with narrow exceptions required for safety or legal reasons, which I'll explain before we start.
Are you a member of a professional body?
Yes, I'm an Individual Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within its ethical framework.
Do you accept insurance?
I currently work on a private-pay basis and am not registered with insurance providers, so sessions are self-funded.
